Origami and tea, what a perfect blend.

This lovely concept came from a Russian designer, Nathalia Ponomareva. Unfortunately it’s only a concept at the moment, let’s hope some company makes a deal with her and get this out for sale.

Dear Eyes

Dear eyes,
I must have overworked you. I can’t read the subtitles on the TV anymore.
I used to believe big eyes see a bigger world but tonight I would like to change it to big eyes see a blur world. I suddenly remember Pan’s Labyrinth’s monster and thought perhaps, if you guys were on my hands, I can move them closer to the TV.
While doing some research, I found a website dedicated to eyes on hands. The pictures freaked me out a little so I decided to save it for tomorrow morning.
I love you eyes.

xoxo.

Beautiful sadness

Rachael Yamagata’s ‘Sunday Afternoon’ is the best song I’ve ever heard in such a long time. It started off weakly and got crazy intense towards the ending. The lyrics on the other hand is purely poetry. This song generates beautiful sadness.

Rachael Yamagata performs Sunday Afternoon, from her double album “Elephants…Teeth Sinking Into Heart”, on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic on October 10th, 2008.

Official MV here.

Rune Guneriussen

Norway isn’t all about the magnificent Northern Lights and fjords. Look at the stuff this artist creates. I think they’re extremely wonderful and I’m sure each of them has its own story to tell.

Rune Guneriussen
, is a Norwegian artist working in the transition between installation and photography. As a conceptual artist he works site specific primarily in nature, but also with more man-made structures. The isolation of objects are turned in to installations, most of these are not seen by audience, but only photographed.

Mohini Geisweiller – Milk Teeth (dir. Danakil)

In a house surrounded by trees, Mohini hyperventilates into a paper bag to calm her anxiety – she is being haunted by Christlike visions, vodka drinks, and a projection of her soul as a strange creature.

Alone in a car with this surreal shape of her vital bodily functions, she attempts to escape her darkness.

Danakil (winner of Antville’s Best New Music Director 2009) paints a surreal picture of paranoia to compliment Geisweiller’s leftfield electro-pop.

Simon Schubert

Influenced by the surrealists and the writings of Samuel Beckett, Simon Schubert draws upon the absurd to visualise sensations of isolation and anxiety, and engage with ideas of existence. The concept of ‘disappearing’ – as a moral and psychological erasure – is a recurring theme in his work.

Close o.T. (Die Badende2), 90 cm x 80 cm x 175 cm, mixed media

In Close o.T. (Die Badende2), Schubert presents a woman in a bath, completely engulfed by her own hair. Schubert’s sculpture posits a relational empathy through the tactility of his materials, where sensations of revulsion, cloyingness, and suffocation convert the unreality of dreams to physical manifestation. The casing of the tub doubles as both inverted ‘plinth’ and pristine coffin, creating an uncanny parallel between death, art and subconscious aberration.

Kayo Saito – Jewellery designer

Summer Flower 2009

Summer Flower 2009

Saito studied metal work at the Japanese Art College of Tokyo and finished her jewellery master in London, at the Royal College of Art. Her work has been regularly presented internationally, in the United Kingdom, Austria, US, Luxembourg, Portugal, the Netherlands and Japan.

In 2003 Kayo Saito presented in Reverso her first exhibition in Portugal, and from then on her work is regular presence in the gallery projects and as part of its permanent collection.

Hand in hand with traditional materials like gold and silver that Kayo Saito works with a delicacy usual in oriental culture, one finds polyester fibber moulded in volatile and ethereal forms, jewels like the “floating brooches” that soon became her hallmark at Reverso, where Saito showed her work in 2003.

Indeed we live to learn

Everyday we learn something
Learn the things we hope to know
The things we want to know
and also those we don’t really want to know.

Transparency

In the world I hope to live in is transparent,
Only the hearts speak, feelings disperse like perfume
And nothing else really matters.

I Live, I Die, I Burn, I Drown by Delmira Agustini

I live, I die, I burn, I drown
I endure at once chill and cold
Life is at once too soft and too hard
I have sore troubles mingled with joys

Suddenly I laugh and at the same time cry
And in pleasure many a grief endure
My happiness wanes and yet it lasts unchanged
All at once I dry up and grow green

Thus I suffer love’s inconstancies
And when I think the pain is most intense
Without thinking, it is gone again.

Then when I feel my joys certain
And my hour of greatest delight arrived
I find my pain beginning all over once again.

Did I kill someone? Why is there guilt?

To dream that you have committed a murder, indicates that you are putting an end to an old habit and your former ways of thinking. This could also mean an end to an addiction.Alternatively, you may have some repressed aggression or rage at yourself or at others. Note also that dreams of murder occur frequently during periods of depression.

Therapeutic Poetry

It’s awfully late and I’m still glued to W.B. Yeats Poems selected by Seamus Heaney the moment I prepared to turn in.  There’s one I really like. It has been a while since I last read something good.

In Memory Of Major Robert Gregory

I

Now that we’re almost settled in our house
I’ll name the friends that cannot sup with us
Beside a fire of turf in th’ ancient tower,
And having talked to some late hour
Climb up the narrow winding stair to bed:
Discoverers of forgotten truth
Or mere companions of my youth,
All, all are in my thoughts to-night being dead.

II

Always we’d have the new friend meet the old
And we are hurt if either friend seem cold,
And there is salt to lengthen out the smart
In the affections of our heart,
And quarrels are blown up upon that head;
But not a friend that I would bring
This night can set us quarrelling,
For all that come into my mind are dead.

爱情的牙齿 (Teeth of Love)2007

Teeth of Love

The Teeth of Love tells the story of a woman’s emotional pain from three failed love affairs. Split into three parts, the film follows Qian Yehong firstly through her tomboy teenage years in 1970s Beijing, during which she breaks the heart of an adoring boyfriend.

The drama then shifts to her early 20s, with her working as a doctor in a hospital. She has an affair with a married man. After this ends badly, she returns to Beijing to work in an abattoir and drifts into a marriage with a shy man called Wei Yingqiu, the relative of an old classmate. Sadly, although the couple has a child, Qian remains unfulfilled.

Each affair somehow manifests itself physically with the troubled protagonist, such as back pain in her teenage years and an abortion from her time with the married man.

Qian’s weak back serves as a symbol of her misery and flare-ups serve as a warning of imminent trouble.

A sponge dress which rots, like a gif animation.

Thank you, work. Because I’ve been doing so much research on trends (for you), I dreamt of fat red lips, runway models, motion blur images, repetitively, never-ending; and even brought the dream to the bus this morning.

I need to break away from work. Can’t wait.

Re-inventing instant film for vintage Polaroid cameras
Surely someone/many of us expected something like that to happen. There’s always an alternative to everything, at least that’s what I believe in. It may/may not be better than the original, but it’s still better than leaving that polaroid to collect dust.
yay.

another crazy dream – tunnel of vampires

It was new year eve, after work.

Wen and I left the office together like always, heading to the train station. It wasn’t like a normal day, the sky was really dark and people on the streets were in the bars, none of them were sitting outside. We kept walking and reached the tunnel of vampires. In the tunnel of vampires, we’re supposed to stay a distance of 1m from those beings. Wen was so clumsy he didn’t pay attention and he bumped onto one of them. That vampire started sniffing him and before I could do anything, he was bitten to death by a swarm of vampires (the scenario was like bees attacking an animal). I was frightened, I walked backwards, trying to stay as far as I could and I hit something hard…

I turned around and right in front of me is a bloody huge brown vampire king who looks like scorpion king. I forced myself to wake up immediately.

can you see the rainbow?

yvonne came back into our room and asked,”You guys want to see rainbow?”

we left our seats and headed out and saw not only one rainbow, but two. It looks rather faint here, but if you look closely, it’s in the centre of the picture whereas the second one is almost invisible.
